At any rate, we went over to where the BASF plant was to be imploded and waited.
This is the plant prior to the blast...actually a bunch of blasts.
The official announcement said the event would take place between 0700 and 0800. Sure enough, at about 0715 we heard the ripple of explosions,
saw the cloud of dust rise above the building and slowly blow away to reveal....the building still standing.
Somebody is having a very bad day! Later he heard that a good number of the explosions did not take place. Now the contractor has a site with live demo, unstable structures, and a contract to clear the place. I bet his insurance company has already gotten a call. Well, after such an early start on the day everything else was anti climactic. I worked on the schooner all day. The ladies did some work, some shopping, took a walk, and had some quiet time. We are now contemplating dinner. All in all, a very large day. Looks like we will be making tomato sauce for pasta. We will use veggies from the garden.
